Nasceu em Loulé em 1961.

É licenciado em Engenharia Civil, pela Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra, Autodidacta de fotografia com formação dada no Instituto Português de Fotografia de Lisboa. Não se considera influenciado por alguém em especial mas por vários grandes fotógrafos em simultâneo: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edouard Boubat, Josef Sudek, Ansel Adams, André Kertész,etc.

Participou em várias exposições : 2009 colectiva “Photography – Dream and Reality” - Hotel Jupiter – Portimão;  2011 “A Maior Exposição Fotográfica do Mundo” na Estação do Rossio em Lisboa  e no Aeroporto Internacional do Funchal com uma Exposição Individual de Grande formato com o título : Lugares comuns, Olhares diferentes.

Está publicado na obra “Essência e Memória – Antologia de Fotografia Contemporânea” – Vol1, editado pela Chiado Editora em Abril 2009, bem como em revistas da especialidade: “Digital Photographer – Arte Fotográfica” e  “ O Mundo da Fotografia Digital”. Foi Premiado pela DP Arte fotográfica no tema de paisagem urbana em 2009 e foi Top10 na rúbrica “Shadows in the wall” no internacional Street Photography em 2013

José Miguel C. Cabrita Matias, was born in 1961 in Loulé city, has a degree in Civil Engineering by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Coimbra University. Photography Autodidact, he made many workshops in the Photography Portuguese Institute of Lisbon. He doesn´t consider himself influenced by just one photographer but by many: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Édouard Boubat, Josef Sudek, Ansel Adams, André Kertész, etc.

He was in some exhibitions: 2009 with some others photographers:  “Photography – Dream and Reality” - Hotel Jupiter – Portimão; in 2011 in the “The largest Photography Exhibition In the World” with an Individual big Format Exhibition called “ Common Places, different Looks” in Lisbon Rossio Station and in Madeira Island, Funchal International Airport.

Some of his works are published in “Essência e Memória – Contemporary Photography Anthology” – Vol1, by Chiado Editora in April 2009, also in photography magazines: “Digital Photographer – Arte Fotográfica” and  “ O Mundo da Fotografia Digital”.

He won the Street Photography Award by the “Digital Photography Art” in August 2009, and was TOP10 in “ shadows in the wall “ by the international street photography in 2013
